Rolled Edge Spa

Good evening everyone,

We're currently in the build phase of our pool. We elected to go with a raised rolled edge spa. We informed the PB, who told the sub who shot the shotcrete. They did curve they edge but its not built up to offset the difference of the coping. Will they build the rest out with mortar or should it have been done during the shotcrete?

Mine doesn't have the offset where the coping sits like yours. Its curved then just flat. Hopefully it will be okay.

Hi - our spa is similar in how only half will have the rolled edge and then the other half will be the spillway but it will be tile. Do you know if they can make that rolled as well? My PB is saying the spillway isn't a rolled edge but I don't understand why it couldn't be. Most of the seating is the spillway as we have a step on the other side so I feel like it makes sense to have the entire spa with a rolled edge but am having a difficult time finding visual examples. Maybe there's a reason that the PB is saying no?

Is your PB saying the side that has spillway can’t be rolled? If he is saying that, then he is wrong. All 4 sides of my spa are rolled edge.

You won’t be able to have a wide spillway though. Could probably go a little wider than mine.

We added the "rolled edge" after we agreed on this design so we didn't get an updated visual. I love how your spa has the rolled edge all the way around. Just haven't seen any pics of rolled edge with a spillway like mine.

This is my sisters rounded edge spa. Spill way is more like you want but not as wide open.

I have a rolled edge and large spillover like yours. My spillway is flat and visually it looks great. Your spillway will likely just be a small trickle like mine. I’m happy for the small trickle so I can run my pump 24/7 without increasing my PH as much as a true spillover.

The flat portion of the spa is not uncomfortable. I would not change my spa in any way.

Here is view of my rolled edge wall that has spill way. I think you could do a rolled edge on your Spillway wall but it would be entirely underwater since your Spillway wall is lower than the rest of the spa walls.

Thanks for sharing! If they have a true reason that they cannot because of the spillway being lower then I'm going to see if they can build similar to yours. The whole point of having the rolled edge is for comfort so why would I only want comfort in half the spa
