I have two rocks around my pool, Im considering salt water conversion but of course the pool store haters trying to scare me. Can anyone talk about their experience here? Im attaching pictures of the two types of rocks I have, will they be ruined?

Mike,

Last I checked all the rocks in the oceans are doing just fine for being millions and millions of years old. And the ocean is 10 times as salty as a saltwater pool.

It looks like you have flagstone. I have a rent house pool that has flagstone coping. I had it for about 3 years before I switched over to a SWCG. If you look at your flagstone, you can see where very thin layers of the stone tend to shed off over time. This is exactly what my flagstone started doing after it was installed and while it was still a tablet pool. It is still doing it today, no worse, nor any better, with the SWCG. It is not the SWCG that is causing the problem but just the cheap stone.

Thanks,

Jim R.
