Robot pool size rating, buy bigger or just enough?

My Dolphin Diaganostic is beginning to act up. It would only sometime run so I need to have it replaced. My pool is 32ftx16 kidney shape. I see Robots that are rated for 33ft and others are up to 50ft and it seems the main difference is the cable length.

I drop my robot in the center of the pool so I assume with either robot it'll have enough cables to cover the entire legnth of the pool. IS there any benefit of going with one that's rated for a larger pool assuming all other specs are the same. Take the Dolphin CC vs the CC Plus for an example.

I also like the Dolphin Advantage for the way the debris basket is designed vs the Dolphin CC lineup as it seems to will hold more leaves but it's also rated for a 33ft pool

Dannie,

You have a Dolphin Diagnostic!!!!! Wow, your robot must be about a million years old. I had two of them I bought used. They worked great but are very hard to work on. I like my Diagnostics, but I love my S200s.

You will want a Dolphin S200 "style" robot. Many different names but they are the same basic robot.

I suggest that you call, or e-mail, Margaret at Marina Pool and Spa.. No Tax, free two-day shipping, and a good price. They do not sell robots over the internet.

They are often busy, so you have to keep trying.

Thanks,

If you're shopping around you might want to also consider the Aquabot range of robots (they have one for up to 32ft pools).

yah my Dolphin Diagnostic has been working ok. It was left behind by the previous owner and I've used it for the past 8 years or so, It's probably 15 years old.

I ordered a Dolphin CC Plus from Amazon and is running it for the first time an hour ago. Comparing the power of the old one to this it's phatom stronger. I never thought of looking at other brands since Maytronic is what I've had and it's took all these years of abuse just fine. I just hated the bags and is always a PITA to clean. These new filter baskets are life saver, I can see it already.

I'm researching the Aquabots as well, it seems the Elite Pro is what I should be buying but money wise, the Reva doesn't seem like a bad performer either that's a little cheaper than the Dolphin CC. Climping walls is nice but I never had an issue with the waterline so I'm not sure if it's a need or a want right now. if the Dolphin CC picks up everything I have in the pool now I think I might just keep it. So far it's looking like it's doing a decent job.
