Robot Max FC Level

I am ready to retire the old Polaris 280 and buy a robot, and had decided on a S200 or other-badged equivalent from Marina. Looking at the specs it appears that 4 ppm is the max FC for use. My target FC range stays at 5-7 ppm most of the time. Does anybody have any experience to share? Will 1-3 ppm over the recommended max FC ruin the machine? Thanks

Hey Timkat and Welcome !!!

The industry doesn't believe in the FC/CYA relationship. They treat the 2 as totally independent values while science says they are joined at the hip. Follow the FC/CYA Levels. Any FC up to SLAM level (40% of CYA) is safe for swimmers or equipment.

I have a Dolphin robot cleaner and have used it while my pool was superchlorinated, probably around 15-20 ppm. Machine still works fine, but I would try to avoid doing what I did ha! I would think having 5-7ppm chlorine would not ruin the machine.
