Robot Cleaner and weekly maintenance company?

New pool owner here. I have a 20x40-ft pool with a fair amount of trees around it. The builder is encouraging me to get a dolphin pool cleaner, although I will probably end up doing a weekly maintenance company, which all seem to include brushing and clean up as a baseline.

Do I need a robot vacuum also? Or is that overkill?

On a bad day, full pool service on a pool that size could take an hour, usually less. That leaves 6 days, 23 hours for stuff to happen to the pool. Even with a good service, you won't be happy unless there is something else cleaning the pool the other, non-service, days. No service can possibly guarantee a clean pool 24/7.

Fair enough. Thanks for the info.

Any recommendations on Dolphin models?

I would call Margaret at Marina pools and spa in Denver. They are stupid helpful and will give you all the +/-s of what they have. The prices are always great, and fast and free shipping. You also get full warranty because they are brick and mortar.

Any recommendations on Dolphin models? I was about to get the M600 but not sure I need all the bells and whistles if I'm getting weekly service also.

See..

I would encourage you to also check out some of the battery powered robots. At this point I am forming an opinion that Maytronics is a “has been”. Their quality seems to have gone way down, and they have not really innovated in years.

Beatbot and Aiper are the two one worth checking out.

My personal opinion is you buy the cheapest on that does the job and treat it like a tool. In my case that is the Aiper S1. It comes with a 2 year warranty and I get an extra year with the credit card. It cost around $500 so for a little over $150 per year I have a robot. If it breaks I dont care. In fact I expect it to break several times during its expected life. I dont baby it. I throw it in the pool, fish it out plug it in and only clean it after several uses (unless the pool is super dirty).

Depends on the debris load. Robots aren't so good at the "heavy lifting", but are great and dust, sand, and silt.
What kind of trees?
I'm not sure I understand your assertion.....I have an M200 Dolphin....it has no problems collecting leaves, worms and etc...

I got a Beatbot Pro and currently testing it out. Got it at a discounted $1400. Seems to get better with every run, but we shall see. Not super impressed with the surface cleaning which is one of main reasons I went with it. Multiple runs and there's still a lot of debris. Also tends to wander around aimlessly a lot of the time. But again maybe that's part of it learning the pool.
