Rheem Pool Heater has White Smoke

I just opened pool and i turned on pool heater and next thing i know it was a cloud of white smoke so i turned everthing off immediately. What should i do

Is it a heat pump? White "smoke" billowing out of heat pumps is not unusual upon initial startup and usually stops after a minute.
