Return orientation?

I have a 15k gallon fiberglass pool with two skimmers and two returns. How should I optimize the water flow? The returns are directly under the skimmers. I currently have then pointed downward. I also have two drains in the side wall below the skimmers (wasn’t my idea) that are in between the skimmers to draw from as well. Pool looks the best when returns are pointed up because of the water ripple, but i think I get better mix when pointed down and away from skimmers. Anybody have any thoughts on this?

Here is a pic. The wind usually runs towards the skimmers. Not always though as winds can change living near the top of a mountain. The Betta has been our lifesaver on a few days.

It's good you are fortunate enough to have the prevailing winds blow at the skimmer. I got lucky with that as well. :goodjob: Unfortunately, having just two return jets isn't going to do much for you. I would probably point them down or away from the skimmer mouth as not to prevent anything from going into the skimmer.

Well we made them put the skimmers on the side of prevailing winds. Pool builder wanted them on the opposite side because then you wouldn’t see them from the house. My issue was put them where the wind blows I don’t care how it looks, a pool full of bugs looks way worse than a pool with visible skimmers and no bugs.

I have two bubblers on the tanning ledge as well. So from a temperature perspective I only have one hot spot which is where the steps come into the pool. The rest is pretty even. I’ve been tweaking the returns to try and even things out temperature wise, but was wondering if there were any thoughts on best practices. As opposed to my trial and error.
