Return Jets

I have a pool where the returns are 1.5” pvc outlets without threads. Ive been using these eyeballs, which are self-aligning.

I’m looking to convert it to a threaded outlet so I can use a different type of return jet, as well as make it easier to close the pool - popping those eyeballs in and out are a pain.

Can anyone speak to how I can do that? Right now I’m thinking I would cement in a 1.5” male spigot adapter in. But want to make sure before I do something stupid.

How deep can you glue a threaded pipe into your existing return and have the threads flush with the pool wall?

I would not think you have enough room.

I am in the same boat but mine are only 1" PVC. I think you will constrict the outlet a lot by both threading in screw fittings and then screwing in the eyeballs. I just ordered a couple press in eyeballs so I'll be taking them in and out as well.
