Retrieving a pool cleaner

Hello- I have a new M400 I have only used once. The cleaner has clogged up with leaves a couple times and I need to retrieve from the bottom. I have been using the app to drive it to the shallow end, but it’s a bit of a PITA. How do you all retrieve your robots? I know that pulling on the cord is no bueno. I’m new to all this so bare with me :)

FYI- For you Buck Rogers fans, I decided to name him Twiki....

Thanks,

Todd

Try and use your pool brush and pole to push the cleaner toward the shallow end. Or you can dive in and practice your lifeguard rescue moves.

There is no issue pulling on the cord with the cleaner in the pool. Once it is just at surface you pick up the cleaner by the handle.

my robot has a retrieval routine that makes it drive over to and up the edge to the surface. Once you pull it out of the water (by the handle) it ejects the water.

Pool Gate- what type of cleaner do you have? That is a nifty feature.

The non-float-handle Maytronics robots (e.g. S-series) essentially dump the water as you pull it out. It's not a powered feature but they have a fabric valve that allows the water to rush out the bottom as you raise it. Much different than with my older Dolphin, which needed to drain for up to a minute after pulling it out.

When using the cord to pull it out the edge, just pull slowly and gently. Kind of like pulling in a 10 lb. fish with 5 lb. test line. No jerking or rushing.

Thanks for the feedback. I was thinking about using a shepherd hook but I’ll just keep pulling gently on the cable. Our pool is still in process , so I’m trying to keep it just clean enough and leaves out of the pool until the water is balanced, SWG is running , etc.
