Resurfacing: tile selection and pop ups

Hi. Getting my pool resurfaced and trying to finalize tile selection for water line. Any advice on what I should consider out of these ? Any I should not consider? Single guy who is terrible at selecting stuff like this.

Also, my current pool is a black pebbletec with black pop ups. New surface will be blue frost (finest finishes). Trying to decide if I leave pop ups or replace to a light gray. I can replace later, just some extra expenses for labor later.

Sonny - do you happen to have any pictures of Blue Frost with water in it? The colors are different when full of water. Is the backdrop of these samples your pool deck? If not - do you have pics of your pool / deck?

Also wondering if I should do step markers….aka, will it look to busy with the pop ups or do I just let the pop ups act as quasi step markers.

Dark water line tile enhances scale build up, whether evaporate scale or from uncontrolled CH rise.

Be sure you take that into account.

Who is the infloor manufacturer?

If it's A&A Manufacturing, it's not just the black pop up heads - there is also the infloor socket that receives the popup head. It has about 3/16" reveal/edge that is visible. To replace those would require removing some gunite around each popup and replacing the socket that holds the popup. Labor intensive plus $$$$.

If you have another brand, you will need to closely inspect them to see if part of the socket is visible when the popup is installed. If so, leaving them the same color would be more cost effective. Based on how dark your new plaster color is would dictate how visible the black popups will be.

I'm not sure who the manufacturer is, but the sleeves are actually gray. so I should be okay swapping out the black heads for gray heads with out the extra labor work.

Gray sleeves is good. You may wish to wait until after the replaster is done to replace the popups. No point in taking a chance on damaging new popups during the plaster application.

Popups for A&A IFCS are about $55 each or higher. Replacing them all could pricey. I would think other manufacturers popups are similarly priced.

You should be able to determine the manufacturer by looking closely at the top of the popup or at the water valve. Maybe post some pics here to see if we can identify them.
