Resurfacing metal side deck

I have a metal pool sidedeck that needs to have the carpet replaced. It's about 5x15 on an oval above ground pool deck, which is on the long side of the pool.

Not sure of I should go with carpet or another material.
I live in Western MA. What do you good recommend? Materials, cost, pros and cons and any other advice.

With it being metal I would replace the carpet. I can see some burned feet if you don't put something down. I think carpet would be the easiest to do.

Will definitely put something down, just trying to figure out if should stay with carpet. If carpet, Abby idea what I should look for when buying one for this type of application?
