Replacing Ortega Diverter with Jandy

Hi all,

I need to replace a section of plumbing on the intake side of my pump, which will include the check valve and diverter. The current diverter is a 3-way Ortega, but I could only get a 3-way Jandy. The replacement is simple enough, but I wanted to be sure I'm aligning the valve ports correctly. The new Jandy clearly denotes the inlet port, but the Ortega does not (or the label has worn off?). Does "inlet" on the Jandy refer to the inlet from the pool, before the pump, or does "inlet" refer to the inlet into the pump (meaning the inlet on the Jandy should be facing/connected to the pump)? Or, if all of that is wrong, how can I tell how to orient the Jandy into my current system?

See the attached photos. I've numbered the ports to hopefully make reference easier. Disregard the shrink wrap I was trying to diagnose a vacuum leak.

Any port on the Jandy valve can be the INLET.

Remove the 6 screws and you can position the INLET label to whichever port works for your setup.

As delivered from the manufacturer, INLET is always on the middle port. But as @ajw22 stated, just remove the screws and carefully reposition the word "INLET" to align with whichever port you need to be the inlet. INLET should always be aligned with the port closest to the pump. This prevents the Jandy valve from being able to deadhead the pump as the handle can't be turned to block that port.
