Look at your return eyeballs and skimmer face. How about the ladder? Is it in good condition? Even if you don't do the face make sure to replace the gasket!

Is it a hard sided pool?
Butterfly gaskets will keep the water away from the walls. They should be installed like a "sandwich", so from inside to outside it would look like this: gasket-liner-wall-gasket. Don't cut the gasket and wait to cut the skimmer and return outlet holes till the pool is mostly full of water.
