Replacing liner next year - how to close this year?

Trying to make my life easier for replacing the liner next year. I'm thinking I could drain most or all of the water out at the end of this season, clear out the pipes and cover. I'd still fill lower drain pipes with a bit of anti-freeze to ensure that new water doesn't kill the pipes. Are there any gotchas with having an empty liner pool over the winter? I'm thinking of how the water keeps the liner in place and pressure against the walls. That being gone, am I risking anything? I could drain next year but I'd be draining a murky mess. My pool never survives the winter without coming up green.

Thanks!

Also, best places to get liners online?

Welcome to TFP.

Water in a liner pool supports the pool walls. Without water in the pool walls can collapse over the winter.

Wait until you are ready to replace the liner to drain the water. The less time the pool is empty the less risk of damage you have.

Also, close & open as we recommend and you shouldn’t have to worry about a swamp.

I don't get it.

If you drain now you have no pool so no swimming. If you leave it filled you won't want to swim in the swamp in the spring but it's no different than not being able to swim the other way.

Leave it filled and get right on the liner replacement as it warms up. The 'swamp' will still be water and not years worth of growth like the muddy mess we see with foreclosed properties.

Okay, glad I asked. I'll keep er' filled up for the winter. Do my normal closing then drain come early spring!
Don’t drain until right before the install. The less time it sits empty the better.
Best to call & get on the books now so you’re first in line come spring.
