replacement strategy for american products r-500 bc lights?

Hi,

our lights work out of the pool but they are leaking. Electrician pulled them, they were installed in 1988, pentair purchased the manufacturer, american products. Received estimate from two pool companies to replace lights, $400 per light and $200 for installation, more if they have to scuba, so about $1000.

I called pentair, they gave me the replacement light model number and found them here for $173 per light:

our electrician will install for $200, so if I purchase on my own, looks like around $500 savings.

am I missing something? should I be considering an LED light like the ameribright instead of the amerilte.

Sounds like you found a good deal there! As for if you should use this light or that.................I really am not sure but here is a bump to get this in front of more eyes.
