My daughter's 6 month old Boxer puppy has entered a Tasmanian Devil phase - we also understimated her jumping and climbing abilities. She managed to get past the barriers we had around our pool's electrical outlets and chewed up the power cord for the SWG. I am still not sure how she managed to unplug the cord and chew it up without getting electrecuted maybe because the SWG was turned off at the time, I don't know.

I called Circupool to ask about a replacement power cord, they do not offer those as replacement parts and suggested I splice together the receptacle end of an extension cord to what is left of the remaining SWG power cord. I have several exterior extension cords to chose from but I am not sure that is the wisest course of action. Would appreciate any suggestions !

There should be a gauge printed on the existing cord or the wires inside the cord, just be careful the replacement is the same gauge or larger. The swg doesn’t pull alot if amps so it’s likely 14 gauge. I assume your using 120v?
Also get/make some pvc sleeves to protect all your cords from the puppy & weedeater etc. 2” is usually large enough to be able to fish a cord end through along with other cords.

I would avoid splicing if possible and just replace the entire cord. With a matching gauge, it should be a relatively easy swap from module to timer. While you're at it, look closely at all your other wiring for potential damage. In pic #3 we can see where the green ground wire is exposed. While it appears to be in the box and perhaps not as critical as a hot leg of power, it may be a sign to inspect everything carefully just to be sure.

As for the Boxer .... she goes in time out. :)

I KNEW it from the title and came in to confirm. Was not disappointed. (But also sad for you). We sure love our dogs but MAN they can be jerks sometimes.

Keep us posted, this will come in handy for the next member with a Houdini dog.

Did they say what gauge the wires are?
It should be on the cord, but I found this thread ....

The gauge on the wire is 16. I went to the local hardware store and bought a 16/3 appliance cord, switched it out and the SWG was running again before the rain hit.

Thank you everyone for the help ! As for cord chewer - she is a 67 lb puppy that still thinks she is a lapdog. Our pool is semi in-ground with a winter cover on it. Last week I looked outside to find the Tasmanian Devil on the pool cover in the middle of the pool. She was bouncing like she was on a trampoline. I ran outside and hollered at her, she starts this bouncing run to the edge of the pool and jumps off. I spent the rest of the afternoon putting up a temporary chicken wire fence until I figure out something more permanent. Luckily, she did not damage the pool cover.

I made a string fence. The 6 inch spacing was too much so I added 4 more lines to make it 3 inch spacing.

Most of the time they run around it too lazy to squeeze through the ropes or jump over. Version 2.0 next year will be better but the winters almost over so this one is good enough for now.
