Replaced filter pump. It runs a few seconds, gets hot, then switches off

Hi All,

I replaced the filter pump, 1hp Century motor. It turns a few seconds, gets hot, then stops.

It is wired for 115V.

The old motor had a V thingy over the shaft. The new one does not. Is this the issue?

Anyone know what's happening?

Is the voltage selector in the 115 position? Do you have a picture of the old motor plate?

The voltage selector looks like it is in the wrong spot.

For 115 volts, you need to shift your jumper one step to the left in your picture so that it looks like below.

The motor is no longer attempting to work. Could I have totally ruined the motor when it flipped the breaker? Or is there kind of a breaker on the motor that can be flipped?

Can you show a picture of the current state?

Did you measure for voltage?

The motor was made on the 287th day of 2017, which makes the motor almost 5 years old.

This explains everything! Thank you. Purchased a new pump, but may have actually been used. Looked brand new.
