Came home yesterday to my hot tub completely drained.

My old Ortega check valve is the problem.

The pool builder did not give me any room in the fittings to plumb in a new valve.

My options are try to heat up the fittings and get that check valve out, or just pull all of the mechanism out and put a jandy valve vertically on the pipe going down to the hot tub.

The hot tub is elevated about 4 ft above this spot.

Likely you only need the internal seat. Easier than a replumb. If the spring is bad you can get a stainless one at a hardware store or get Pentair's part #072524.
