Moving to this 1956 MCM gem in Gem City, Dayton OH, this Friday from FL. Leaving a beautiful pool and Gulf of Mexico, so really want to keep the water feature.

Really seeking local contractors to evaluate reno or demo. General thoughts from the pics and any contractor recommendations if you have them.
You can see “grass to the edge” as I call it, which is what we’d like to achieve and probably a big savings versus some hardscape renovation.

Reddit sent me here. Thanks for the feedback and maybe even a referral!

PS, what’s going on near that drain? More pics when we get to Dayton!

What a pretty house!! What are the floors made of? What is the brick room? Looks like a wonderful spot to host a party!

Now for the pool. It looks like a concrete pool so that is good. It looks like it was painted so that is not so good. At least you have started to remove the paint. You will need to get all of the old paint off and replaster it. BEFORE you do that you need to test the pipes and equipment. We can walk you through how to do that when you get there and kind of settled.

Grass to the edge=pretty until you have to clean the pool of all of the grass clippings and stuff that will get in the pool from the grass being right there. In the long run I think you will be better off removing and replacing the concrete. It will create a more inclusive pool experience than having it replace with grass.
