I just removed my old heater, also capped off the gas line, and taped off the heater electrical cable. I don't plan to install a new heater. Is it important to somehow disable the heater at the control board? Just a breaker, or something deeper? It's a Jandy iAqualink board.

Thanks!

I also would not leave the wires just taped. You didn't specify if they were inside a water proof junction box or just laying on the ground.

Thanks, Avspin & Jim R. The cable ends will remain on the ground outside the control panel box, so I will disconnect them at the board & turn off the breaker for the heater as well.
