Remove stuck compression adapter

Not sure of the inner diameter, but something like this would work:


So you probably don't have one of these laying around, but maybe a 2" X 2" piece of lumber (actually 1.5" X 1.5") might fit in there if you taper the edges similar to the tool. The get a pipe wrench or channel locks on it and twist. A tapered round dowel might work also.

Last resort is using a hacksaw blade to cut inside the fitting towards the skimmer threads. Go slow at the end, being careful not to damage the threads. The width of the cut should provide enough relief to loosen the fitting.

Not the best ideas, but they are ideas.
