Can you guys tell me what kind of contractor you would use to remodel a pump area? I called some pool companies and they would replace my filter/pump etc... but they didn't seem to know much about adding concrete or stone.

Currently I have half concrete/half uneven stones/half dirt. Not sure what to do with it really, so maybe that is why can't wrap my mind around who to call. But I do know I want a cartridge filter instead of my DE one. And I do want a SWCG. Maybe I'll keep my current pump or i'll switch to a variable speed one. I don't want the dirt or uneven stones/cement. And I'd love to be weed free in that area. I also want to replace the fence between the pool and that area. Anyhow, here is the best I can come up with.

1. Sign the fall sign contract with pool company to replace filter/pump and plumbing in the spring. Ask them where do I need to cut the plumbing. Schedule them to do the work early spring.
2. Sign contract with concrete contractor In the fall. Schedule him in the fall.
3. sign contract with fence contractor in the fall and schedule him in the fall.
3. After pool season is over and I go to close. I will cut the plumbing lines and remove all the equipment to my garage. Then I will close as normally as I can.
4. Have the concrete contractor come and do his job in the fall.
5. Have fence contractor come and do his job in the fall.
6. In spring have the pool contractors come and install whole new setup.

Is this the way to do it or is there an easier way? Or is there a contractor type that does it all?

You have the right idea.

Do you have a landscape company who does work at your house. A pool equipment pad is too small of a job for a "concrete company'. Anyone can pour a concrete pad who can level the area, frame it with 2x4's, get a few bags of concrete from HD, mix it on site, and pour it onto the pad and level it.

Removing the equipment takes a day of work at most.

Some Pool Companies may do it all including pouring the pad. It all depends how hungry they are.
