Remind me why I want to go up to 7.6 PH

I’m not sure I understand why I would want to go up. TA is 60, PH is now 7.5

I was away for the weekend and had a little algae growth I vacuumed out to waste. I added about 20 ounces of muriatic acid yesterday. Shouldn’t I maintain this PH or even go to 7.2 to help with sanitation?

Your pH is in range so no need to change.

You might want to do a Overnight Chlorine Loss Test. Visible algae means you have algae throughout the water column.

Poolmath just automatically sets the target to ideal range. In general any ph in the 7’s is fine.
If you have visible algae you need to lower ph to 7.2 & follow the SLAM Process as listed in the article.
If u have any cya in the water the lower ph for optimal sanitation thing doesn’t really apply.
