Refilling the pool and converting to SWG

For sure, toofast, I have no knowledge in that area, but from what I see on the internet (and you know how dangerous that can be) it is not. I see on one place that WHO (World Health Organization) recommends up to 4ppm for potable water. But what really baffles me is the reading went from 3 in the morning to 7 in the afternoon day before yesterday, then down 3.5 the next morning. This morning: back to 7 FC & .5 CC. Those #s just make no sense, and the test procedure isn't exactly rocket science. Pretty straightforward. The only variable I can see is what is a "heaping" teaspoon? That could vary a little each time. I think it was DivinDave who said to be sure not to wait between adding the test chemicals and I have been careful to follow that advice with every test.
At this point I'm definitely leaning to thinking my test chemicals are contaminated in some way. I'm replacing them and hopefully will begin to see more consistent readings.

I called and talked to a lady at TF Test Kits about the bad and varying readings l was getting on FC of my tap water. She suggested the problem could be caused by a lot of aeration in the tap water and suggested I get a sample and let it sit for an hour, then test it. HA, I thought. Sure.
But she was CORRECT. Retesting water that sat for actually a couple or 3 hours gave me a reading of 2. What I was expecting the first time and what the local utility company read.
Mystery solved

wow!
Well this is great news. now you know your pool test kit is as good as the fancy one the water company uses! What more could you ask for? :)

I can tell ya the TFtestkit people are top notch. Ive spoken to the guy that owns it a few times myself.

Great news, indeed. If the test weren't so simple I probably would have convinced myself I was doing something wrong. When I talked with the lady at TF Test Kits, I had called to order new test chemicals thinking I was wrong about my chemicals just being a year old. When I told her what was happening, she checked their records and saw that I had, indeed, ordered new test chemicals last year and ASSURED me they were good. That's when she suggested letting the sample sit for an hour. She could have just sold me new chemicals. Yes. They are good people.
My thanks to them and even more you guys for your guidance.
By the way, I have installed the CircuPool system although I have not yet turned it on. I'm slamming to be SURE there is no algae before turning the system on. Installation was a piece of cake. The pool looks great

you will notice if you havent already, that most everyone here on tfp recommends that website to get their test kit from.
They GUARANTEE their chemicals for 18 months, and will replace them at their own cost if there is a real problem with them. No one else does that. Anyone else would have just sold you new stuff whether you need it or not.

She's great.

Dave and Kim, there's no doubt any other company would have just sent me new chemicals. It speaks very highly of TF Test Kits that they would go to the trouble to investigate what was really going on and that they had the necessary product knowledge to provide the solution.
Your recommendations for that company are spot on.
