Okay so I had a bad algae problem and after shocking, flocking, shocking, and clarifier (this was over a period of two weeks, I gave time for each to work) I was left with cloudy water and white flakes that would sink to the bottom but as soon as I tried to vaccuum it would stir up and refuse to filter out. I drained the pool down to about two feet of water and could still see some stuff on the bottom but went ahead and started filling anyway. It was clear up until it hit the filter ports and I, like an idiot, did not plug the ports to my sand filter. I checked the water before it hit the ports and it was clear, 15 minutes later I go out and I have light brown, cloudy water which I assume is sand because it is now above the filter ports. Has anyone had this problem and if so do i need to drain it again, just let it fill, settle and then vacuum, or will my filter get the sand out on it's own?
