Aloha everyone! We have red (red, not brick or rust) stains in places around the waterline of our pool. See picture--you willl have to zoom in to see them.
Any ideas on how to get rid of them? I SLAMd the pool to clear up any pink bacteria/algae that might have caused it, but the stains will not come out. Tried vinegar, baking soda, bleach so far. Nothing touches it.
Thanks, Gary

Try rubbing a paste of Vitamin C in a sock on the red stains. If they lift then it is from iron.

Thanks for the suggestion, but I tried a paste of vitamin C on it and it did not touch it. I also tried pool chlorine straight from the jug, and also scrubbing it will a chlorine tablet. Also hydro peroxide. None worked. Is it possible it is a reaction to sunlight? Hawaii is tropical after all. It shows mostly above the waterline in the white strip between the liner bottom and the white loop that suspends it from the frame. I've attached a closeup picture too.
Grasping at straws here.
Gary

That looks almost like red dye. Anything that could have interacted with wall at that spot? Pool toy, bathing suit, etc.?

That’s what I’m leaning towards too - a stain. Especially since its only at the water line. Pink mildew would be easily affected by bleach.
Got any scrub daddy power paste or “pink stuff” ?

I got an unknown pink stain off of a door & sink with it just today. Alcohol nor industrial strength disinfectant would touch it.
