Recommended O-Ring Lubricants

I see a number of posts here...many of them old...about what to use and what not to use as a silicone based O-ring lubricant for filter O-rings. is there a consensus as to what is the best quality and/or best value? It looks like there are a variety of different "Super Lube" variants, some of which are NON PTFE so care needs to be taken in getting the proper version of the different brands.

My immediate goal is to I have what is necessary to properly clean and reassemble my Sta-Rite System 3 cartridge filter (it will be the first time for a new pool), but is the lubricant also needed at pool closing time for closing off the pool returns and skimmer lines? How much of this stuff do I need and how long does it last?

The Boss 820 at 5.3 oz is a better deal than the Magic Lube II at 1 oz. for $9.15.

The Magic Lube II is also available in a 5 oz.

Note: Do Not get regular Magic Lube in the blue label.

I've used Leslie's lube forever, but it has teflon so I need to change. Good thing I saw this thread.

Go to the hardware store and get a silicone faucet grease. Its like $4 for a tube that will last you years.
