I am wanting to get a solar cover for my 18" round Sharkline pool and it looks like a solar cover is a solar cover from what I have found. So my question is: what about a reel system? I saw the one mas985 made DIY Solar Cover Roller and that may be the simplest solution. Anyone have thoughts or recommendations one reels?

I bought a solar cover reel that could be installed over the center of the pool and pivoted out of the way or installed on posts at the end of the pool and reeled up that way. I chose to install at one end. I'm not super happy about it, but I never tried it the other way either so I don't know if it's better or not. The cover bunches up as you try to reel it in as it gets "funneled" to the center of the reel by the shape of the pool. To have a neatly rolled cover involves stopping the rolling up process and making constant adjustments. If I had to do it again, I would just buy solar cover saddles. It would have been much cheaper and less frustrating.

S1ngram thanks! That's pretty much what I was getting from most of the reviews I've seen. At the moment I'm leaning toward Mas985s method and having something similar to the saddles to hang it over the edge when we're in the pool.
