Recommendations for new sand filter

Hi all!

Last winter I messed up and left the filter connected to the pool... which exploded due to ice, after water went way over the previous levels (lots of rain) and filled the filter.

To replace the ClearWater 21in sand filter, I'm looking at Hayward filters. I've already got a new Hayward pump dual-speed last year, so I'm not looking at combos. Or should I?

Any suggestions? Is there a market for second-hand filters?
Is there anything else I should be considering? Pipes, hoses, etc.?
Is 21 inches the right size for my 21ft above-ground pool?

A 21" filter will be fine, or you can go bigger if you can afford it. I prefer hard pipe plumbing instead of hoses. Its more durable over time and less likely to pop off.
