My landscaper called my attention today to a significant leak on my pool pump. It's at the fitting exiting the pump to 2" pipe leading to the multiport valve on the filter.

I tried tightening parts in place, but no joy. I am guessing something got cracked. (I have a good idea how, that's not important here.) Before I take it apart further I want to be sure I have the most likely replacement parts on hand.

Assuming that the leak is right there at the fitting, and assuming nothing catastrophic has happened to the pump housing, is this fitting (one of the 2 pack) the most likely to replace the connection between my Pentair pump and the 2" PVC pipe? Should I have anything else on hand, other than possibly additional pipe, teflon tape, and generic PVC tools & materials?

Thanks for any quick thoughts!

The fittings Jimrahbe recommends are hi-temp unions, and cost less. You can see the difference in material in the pictures. Given the choice, hi-temp are always better. The ones referenced in your post are standard PVC, not hi-temp. They both seal with an O ring rather that Teflon tape. Since you have a heater, likely you have a spa that you use. Go for the hi-temp unions.

Apologies for my delayed answer, holiday weekend brain fade. Relevant pad and closeup of the leaking fitting attached. Pipes in front of the filter, lower right, are for a separate feature pump. Easytouch panel is off to the right side just past the feature pump.

Sharp eyes may notice the split-hose-and-clamp fix reminiscent of how I used to keep my '71 Dart on the road. That's on the plan to replace by spring, but has not been leaking. When the pump is on, there is an obvious flow at the fitting I'm planning to replace immediately.

@Jimrahbe Yes! I saw those fittings too, however I can get faster delivery on the ones I linked. The leak is severe enough that I just shut down for now, and I'd like to get the pump started again sooner than later.

Recommendations and suggestions are welcome for the planned refit when I rework the leak with Dodge repair.
