Hi all,
I need advice. Last week I called a retail distributor about broken inserts in my pool frames. They are replacing the two frame beams. I also wrote them about another piece (molded to the liner). When I laid out the liner, the piece seemed broken. But, after sitting in the sun, the piece softened and I was able to mold it into place. I even wrote to the company and told them I was going to test my ability to mold the piece into place once it was heated. But I woke this morning to see the company has sent an ENTIRELY new liner... the MOST expensive piece of the pool. I feel AWFUL. I don't want to steal from anyone. Because, yes, I was able to remold the piece once it was heated. The liner is fine so far. But, they have already shipped the new liner. I couldn't reach them before they shipped it because... long weekend.

What should I do? I don't like costing anyone so much money when it isn't needed. But, my BF says there's no way we're going to pay to ship it back. He said the company will pass the cost along to Intex and it won't be a big deal to such a large company. But... ick. It feels weird.

What would you all do?

Edit: I called the retail distributor and they said they already shipped it and it is no big deal. If we don't need it, just call them and they will arrange for return shipping. So, now I don't feel so awful. But, I would suggest buying anything from Spreetail, if they come up as a distributor. They've been so nice and helpful.

We don't have a sub-forum for moral dilemmas?

Your personal integrity has already guided you in the right direction. IMHO, honesty is always the correct path.
*LOL* Sorry I'm embarrassed I even posted. But, I do get a little frustrated with the BF about getting something for free. If it's something small -- like extra sauces for sushi, cool. But, this liner... I researched what it costs before even buying the pool and I know it's expensive. So, I just decided I KNEW the right thing to do here... and did it. While he went back to sleeping in, I just made the call to them anyway, regardless of what he thought. I was going to delete my post, here, but then... thought... why not give the company a plug. They were really great about it.

And the goats make me smile every time I see them! Plus, no moral dilemma sub forum? Cracked me up. Thanks for the smiles!

Try doing the right thing. Although they charge alot of money for the liners, they will likely lose money paying to ship it home, then back out to another customer.

They will likely tell you to keep it free and clear. If not, send it back. Either way, you sleep like a baby.
