Recently purchased a brand-new Raypak Avia Pool heater and it worked fine for approximately 1 week after having it installed by the pool company. Unfortunately our pool timer failed the other day and I had to manually flip the switch on every morning to run the pumps, which got annoying. But even then everything was working perfectly fine. Had a licensed electrician come by to help install the new pool timer switch, which works perfectly fine as well as all the equipment connected to it except for the pool heater. After troubleshooting, I am noticing that I am constantly blowing the F1- 5 amp fuse on the main circuit board every time power runs to the unit. Must have gone through 4 fuses at this point. the fuse blows almost instantaneously as the power from the pool timer switch is turned on. the fuse will also blow if its powered directly to the main power line without being feed from the pool timer. I am stumped, so is the electrician. Called Raypak, new circuit board is not in stock. Warranty case started, but could not give me any specific dates on when it would be available. and the certified technicians in my area are at least 2 weeks out just to inspect the situation.

Has anyone dealt with this issue before and figured it out.

Is there any practical temporary pool heating solution that anyone is aware of for the time being, the YouTube video of a guy coiling a copper tube and connecting a regular pump then starting a campfire certainly made me laugh.

After searching for the Avia installation and service manual I could not find the 5A fuse listed on the control board. Photos of all controls and wiring along with the fuse that you are blowing might be helpful. Might also need photos of the timer wiring as the problem appeared after the new timer was wired.

Now I see where the fuse is. Do you have a 264A or a 404A as they seem to have different boards? Are you wired for 240V or 120V? I am looking at this manual for your heater https://s3.amazonaws.com/AWSProd/sites/raypakcom/documents/100-10000111.pdf Looking at P 26 of the manual you seem to be showing only part of the wiring I see on that page. That is why I am questioning the electricians timer replacement and exactly what is going on with the wiring. Need to see photos of all controls and wiring from the panel to the heater and controls. It would seem that that fuse is for the 24V circuit but can't see it in the wiring unless they are calling it the "power switch" ? Also can't find any photos of actual replacement boards on line. Since it is new you might want to have the pool company that installed it come out on a warranty call to repair it. They will surely let you know if the electrician messed anything up.
