raised spa check valve

Hi, so dumb question, a raised spa , it will drain down when spa main and return is open and pump is off. There is one check valve on the return (which i replaced internal flapper on couple years ago).
It will still drain down if i don't turn off the main...turn off the main problem solved. Shouldn't the main have a check valve put on it too? it's not buried i checked and the return valve is obvious at ground level. Seems wierd
they didn't put one on. I assume i should do this but just looking for confirmation as seems wierd it wasn't added to that line as well. thanks!

S,

Main What???

I assume that you are talking about closing the Spa Drain line.. Is that true?

If so, water needs to travel from the spa drain into the pump.. That is the same direction that water needs to travel to drain the spa.

If you install a check valve in that line, the Spa would never be able to send water to the pump...

If we 'assume' your current check valve is good, then you just need to rebuild your Intake Diverter valve. The one that selects spa or pool.

90% of the time, the problem is the check valve in the Spa return line.

Thanks,

Jim R.
