I try to run my pump at least 8 hours a day and I choose those 8 hours to be in the hottest, sunniest time of the day. However, we are getting a lot of rain currently and it is supposed to last all week. Yes we will get intermittent breaks during the rain but my question is this.... Should I keep running the pump at my regular times? We are getting HEAVY downpours... sometimes 5". Should I wait until the rain stops?

You should be able to run your equipment no different than on a dry day. Keep chlorine in that water. The only exception is you may need to pump some water to waste as the pool overflows. I've had to do that a couple times already.
