I have a plaster in ground pool with a Circupool SWG. I am in New Orleans so we have bright sun and hot summers. According to the Pool School chart, the recommended ideal CYA range is 70ppm to 80ppm. I just brought my CYA up from 50 to 70 with 2 lbs dry stabilizer. Which would be the better option: stay at 70ppm or add a pound to bring it up to 80ppm?

Bring it up to 80ppm.

You will probably get CYA degradation from water temperature being over 90 and your CYA will drop down to 70 within a month.

So get it to 80ppm so it can decline from there.

Thank you. Not to mention the water exchange from the heavy rains. The water temp is typically 86 degrees but on hot days it goes up to about 90. Appreciate the advice.

By the way, I really like this product. Its a fine powder and quick dissolving, as opposed to the granular Chlor Save my store sells with which I have to use a skimmer sock. It comes in neat little one pound packets so its pre-measured. My store says to just pour it straight into the skimmer. Which leads me to another question.

I just recently installed my CircuPool SWG, and they said to not put chemicals straight into the skimmer to protect the SWG cell. Do you think its ok to dump this right into the skimmer, or should I mix it in a bucket of water and distribute it throughout the pool?
