Quick iron question?

We installed our new 24' Coleman yesterday and it's currently filling (well water). Last year I poured the bleach in and of course it turned brown, then I used the "mineral out" stuff and all was good the rest of year. Of course I used up a filter and the hoses stayed an ugly brown after that. Two questions, first can I do the mineral out before the bleach and never deal with the brown? Or would it be better to do that youtube trick I've seen where they stuff a bucket with fluff and attach it to the hose and filter it that way? Thank everyone, hope this makes sense ??

The bleach oxidizes the iron and that's why it turns, the potion puts it back in suspension.

Do some searching or maybe some will chime in, you should be able to use poly(pillow) stuffing when it's brown to remove the iron then less sequestrant will needed to be used in the course of the year

We also use well water that has a high iron content. Every year the water turns a brown (the color of strongly brewed tea) when we add the chlorine. We tried the Metal Free stuff from Leslie's Pools, expensive and totally ineffective. We finally discovered the polyester fill trick. We use a 1 gallon plastic bottle with numerous holes drilled into the bottom and packed with the polyester. The bottle is attached to the outlet. This year we upgraded to a 4440 gallon Intex pool (15' x 48") and the water was crystal clear after 36 hours and three filter changes. I've seen video of the bucket used on larger pools but our pools have been very small so haven't done that.

You can add sequestrant first and avoid the water turning brown on you, keep in mind you will need to maintain sequestrant level all pool season to keep the iron in suspension. Last year when it turned brown, that was all the oxidized iron falling out of suspension and you were able to filter it out, removing it from the water. That is what kept your pool clear all season.

Ok well nevermind lol. I went ahead and poured the bleach in and 4 hours later it hasn't turned brown, so I guess we don't have any iron in the well. I will say after hurricane Harvey my In laws had to flush the well. I'm not sure what they put in it, but I guess it's still working lol.
