Questions on mix of 2" and 1.5" PVC

AC units have a lower-pitch rumble when running which to me is less annoying than the high-pitched whine of a pump. Especially as the bearing wears.

The pump will be quiet until you have bearing problems.

You understand the issue, and I shared my pet peeve with you.

Understood. If the bearing goes, as it did on older pump motors in the past, I'll replace it.

My wife has asked me to hide the equipment from line of sight for several decades now. She has terminal cancer, which is what led me to purchase the pool heater to start with - so we can enjoy the pool more in the last year or two she has, and have lots of time with the kids and grandkids. Last summer was a bust with overly cool nights killing the pool temp even with a solar cover. I just need to get this project wrapped up, as the heater has been sitting out there for a couple of weeks, and I just uncrated it yesterday.

Just a thought...but given your situation and time considerations, don't let perfect become the enemy of good enough.

Not sure about Alabama, but we've been swimming since Easter weekend in Mid-Michigan ;)

Yeah, I think it will be where I showed it last, pump on right, heater on left, and it is out of sight from inside the house. If pump noise is an issue down the road for that bedroom, which is a guest bedroom, I'll worry about it then, and kill the pump at night or something.

I am fighting some rain the next couple of days, but may very well get around there today, cut the drain and route it straight up against the wall of the house, so that I can pour a slab and be done with it.

Our water temp is currently around 65F from a thermometer floating in the skimmer. That will come up when I pull the safety cover and put the solar cover on with that new reel I bought. And get the heater plumbed in....
