Question on mastic/sand

Hi all the PB put mastic/sand in a few weeks ago and it keeps coming out in chunks and is all over feet and the pool looks so dirty
Is this normal? Will it subside? Should he have put a sealer over it? TIA

That’s not normal, sand is sprinkled on top to take away the shine and give the mastic a different look.
If it’s getting on the deck and your feet it has not cured properly and may have been mixed incorrectly.

Ok I watched him do it, he put the adhesive and then dumped quite a bit of sand on top

Adding the sand is very common but you stated that the product was installed a few weeks ago and is still tacky, a mastic would have set up by this time. This is why I think if it may not have been mixed properly.

Most likely not, everything with this PB has been a complete mess. Such a headache!

So the owner met with me today and said it’s normal the sand will come out for months until it wears down? Seems awfully messy to me I’ve never seen this before?!

I had my mastic replaced a year or 2 ago and it was set within a day or 2. Properly mixed and installed mastic shouldn’t take weeks to set.

Ughhh I agree - but the PB is telling me it's fine and there's nothing they can do....this is so so frusterating!
