Question about time between tests

Hi all, total newbie wrt pool chemistry. This question is pertaining to my wife's 2550 gallon indoor Endless Pool.

After adjustments are made, how long should I wait before taking water quality measurements? I assume it varies depending upon: The size of the pool, the adjustment made, the amount of adjustment which has been made, etc.

Endless Pools shows a 6-8 wait in most cases. I've generally seen > 4 hours in most places I've looked. Somewhere in TFP I'm almost positive I saw that reactions occur very quickly, which implies that only some time for water circulation might be required.

Do any of you have any comments on this? I'd love to see what TFP might have already on the forum about this (but can't seem to find it). Thanks in Advance!

Joe, welcome to TFP.

Depends on the chemicals you added.

Chlorine and acid mix within 15 to 30 minutes.

Salt, stabilizer or calcium can take 24 hours or more before they are well dissolved. It is best to give those a few days to get a stable measure of the new level.

Always keep the pump running while letting the chemicals mix.

Pool volume does not make a difference in test time.

Absolutely everything Allen said is spot on.

However, once you know that your additions are working, there is no need to test again after 30 minutes. For example, when you are confident your additions are making the expected FC or pH adjustment, then make the adjustment and wait until the next day to test again. Always testing before and after 30 minutes is not necessary when you understand how it works...
