Question about the Duda sock.

Hoping one of the experts can help me.

I just got one on eBay to speed up my cloudy stage.

I noticed all the directions and people who do this use a 90 degree bend at the return line.

Any specific reason to use the bend instead of a straight piece? I ask because I have an extra straight piece so If I can use it that’s a plus.

Also I’m concerned I will not be able to get my return cover off. It has been on for ten years. If I cannot get it off any alternate ways to hook the sock up?

Thank you! I have the sock but I’m debating taking the 90 bend off my backwash. I’d rather use this straight piece but don’t know if it’s okay.
