So sling arrows as required, but I added too much DE to my Quad DE80 after cleaning and recharging it. I looked at the box of DE for the square footage and I used that rather than look at the information re: the filter itself.

With that said, I do have a bit of DE in the pool that is very, very slowly over one week getting re-absorbed into the filter. But it is very slow, despite several cycles of sweeping it up into the drains. Brushing the bottom still brings up small clouds of DE.

Would it make any sense to do a short backwash to potentially remove some of the DE from the filter? Or do I need to break the filter down again and start from scratch?

Thanks

How much DE did you add versus what the filter says?

No need to breakdown the filter. You can backwash out the DE and reload with 80% of the recommended amount.

But if your filter PSI is good I woudl leave it as is.

Approx 10lbs. Filter says 8lbs. PSI is good, but it has been six days and I’m still brushing DE off the floor to keep it suspended. Much less now but it’s still there.
