I have found a small leak in my return pipe going to my spa at equipment pad. When my freeze protection rotates from pool to spa is when it starts leaking. I have turned off spa freeze protection for now. I still have a slow return to spa so it won’t freeze.

The 2” pipe that runs out of my valve In to the ground goes in to like a square flange with a set screw. This is where i found the leak. However, I can’t find this type of fitting Or tell if it’s just leaking from the screw. We recently had a few days of snow and cold weather so I’m somewhat positive that’s when this started. I also noticed my pressure valve on top of filter is over 20 psi so I need to clean my filter but I don’t believe this has anything to do with the leak.
Any suggestions or if maybe just the screw is loose? I plan on digging up this square flange joint thingy when water dries but any comments would help

What are the letters on the side of the block? It can let us identify what it is.

Looks like if you keep on digging you will find the face plate for the valve and six screws that hold it together.

Yep. That’s what it is. However I did dig deeper and what I found is when the valve rotates from pool to spa the pipe that has the check valve literally moves up from a connected 2” coupling and that’s where the leak is. It’s like it pressures up and causes the pipe to lift up. And possibly the glue holding the coupling and the 2” has lost its bond.
What does the check valve purpose serve? Can I just cut all this out and replace with standard schedule 40 or is it because of the back and forth pool and spa valve function.

If you have a spillover spa, that check valve keeps the spa from draining down to the pool level when the pump goes off.

Ok. Thanks. Guess I’ll just have to looses the pvc pipe and clean it and reglue it. Not sure why the pvc coming out of the check valve lifts or moves other than the glue losing bond
