PVC plubming lifespan?

As a plumber (retired) I installed plenty of PVC in houses (indoors). It lasts virtually forever as long as it's not damaged, but it is somewhat fragile when abused (e.g., over heated, impacted, support undermined/eroded, physically stressed, intense UV exposure). I would say if it's lasted 40 years, I'd gamble it will last another 40 unless it's abused somehow.

My inlaws in Sacramento have a pool built in 1964 with all-PVC pipes. Still running just fine. Everything above ground has been replacd but not due to failure; everything below ground is original No leaks or other issues.
