Pump speed help needed!

Hey I have a pump question. We had an electricity issue at our pool house that we thought was causing our issue initially but recently we had a new line connected to our pool house and we seem to have an issue going on with the pump (but it also could be normal, I’m not sure).

Our pool is 40,000 gallons. Our pentair variable speed pump is currently set to run 24hrs which is how the installers set it up, at the max speed of 3450. When the pump first turns on it runs great and the watts reads somewhere between 1000-1200 when this is going on. This cycles the water very well and you can tell the skimmers are getting good flow. However as the day goes on the watts reading falls down to 800-950 (even though the speed is still set at 3450). This still cycles water but seems at a much lower flow (into the skimmers and out into the pool). I’m not sure what to do, where the problem is or if this is even something to worry about.

As the electricity feeding the pool house is now been fixed, do you all think this is a problem with the electrical wire to the pump being bad or a pump problem?

The problem is once it goes down to the 800-900 watts it never seems to increase back to the higher rate. I don’t know if we need the higher flow to improve.

Thoughts would greatly be appreciated.

Welcome to TFP! I was curious to know if you observed any water flow or watts changes after cleaning/backwashing your filter? Can you update your signature with all of your pool and equipment info please? Be sure to lost your test kit as well. We'll see if you can put some ideas together for you.

Welcome to the forum!
I am sure there needs to be some discussion around the pump and rpm. You have a gold standard of Variable Speed pumps. To run it at full speed is not wise.
