I have a client wants a infinity edge waterfall upper pool area is 35' x 5' the the edge will be 35' long. We want to make sure we have enough pump to make this water roll over fast. I understand the need for larger pipes like 3"-4"
pipes. Everyone I ask about actual pump size (HP) gives me different answers. Can anyone give me a calculation to figure this out? The catch basin will be large 40' x 5' the drop is only 2' from top to catch basin.

WaterFall Specialty Pump - Efficient Pool and Spa Pumps - Pentair

Maybe the AFP-180 water feature pump or an Intelliflo XF.

IntelliFloXF Variable Speed Pump - Efficient Pool and Spa Pumps - Pentair

I would suggest the IntelliFloXF with 4" suction and 3" pressure.

Make sure that the trough is big enough and deep enough.

Make sure that the suction intakes have a lot of surface area for safety and to make sure that the water doesn't vortex air into the lines.
