Pump replacement

I have a 13 year old 1 HP Pentair pump that has started to squeal sporadically. The bearings were replaced 2 years ago but its squealing again. I’m being advised that, most likely, only the pump needs to be replaced. The impeller is still pushing water.

Need advice. Should I replace just the motor, or the whole motor and impeller assembly - given the age. DE023655-50ED-41E4-B0D8-E89092996A51.jpeg

Hi there, welcome to posting at TFP :)

I'd suggest going for the new pump now.... and making the new pump a variable speed pump now. Come mid-2021 ALL pool pumps will be required to be variable speed (if over .7 hp) so if you move now you may save money before any rush, and you will definitely save money on energy to run the thing.

I second what YippeeSkippy said. I just this month am replacing my 2HP single speed with Waterway Power Defender 270 Variable Speed Pump. The cost savings are truly significant even with low electricity rates where I live.
