My pool pump finally kicked the bucket. I’m capable of installing a new pump, but thought I would seek out some recommendations for pump size. Replacing a dura-glas .75hp sf 1.27.
pump is close to inground pool approx 18x32 kidney 9ft deep end, 1 skimmer, 1 bottom drain. 2 returns. Hayward sand filter.
Been doing some research but thought I would ask for some recommendations. Any help would be much appreciated.

A variable speed pump would be best and mandatory since July of this year for any replacement for the main filtration pump. Now doing it yourself you can put whatever (I assume) but a VS pump would provide you a lot of capability to run at lower speeds throughout the day/night. There are multiple pumps from the big 3 of Pentair, Hayward and Jandy as well as many other brands.
See this link for one site that offers many types.
You may have other suppliers in Canada.
You do not mention if you have a SWCG but a VS pump is usually ideal for that to function across many hours during a 24 hr period.

VS pumps are not mandatory for folks in Canada.

Folks outside of the US now have a very different selection of pump models then what the US government has forced on US consumers.

Best if the OP shops and sees what is available to them and posts their options and we can then comment.
