Pump placement and wiring clarification.

Hello All,

I've got a few questions about a future AGP install we are trying to plan for here in westchester county ny. The local building dept. isn't really helpful and honestly a little snippy with us when we ask questions. They threw the electrical code print out at us and said your electrician has to pull a permit and we dont care about who builds the pool. A little rough if you ask me, but i suppose they deal with a lot of interesting cases.

My scenario; ~ 18ft from intended pool location, also near our generator, we have an existing gfci outlet on a 20A circuit. This is also underneath a deck, the height under the deck is 9ft so plenty of service space. Would it be a problem to keep the pump and sand filter in that area and plumb the lines to the pool under or above ground (no preference, whatever is most appropriate) with rigid PVC. The copper bonding would be done around the pool and all the way to the pump. Does this seem feasible.
I am reading up on how to assemble agp's and on the fence if i want to tackle it myself. I may have some other questions with the bonding for resin pools we are leaning towards...

Will your pool have a depth of more then 42 inches and thus be considered a permanent pool?

The pump outlet needs to be different then the convenience outlet. Cords for pool motors are permitted if the length doesn’t exceed 3 ft and the cord contains a copper equipment grounding conductor, sized in accordance with 250.122, based on the rating of the overcurrent protection device, but not smaller than 12 AWG.

At least one 15A or 20A, 125V receptacle must be located not less than 6 ft and not more than 20 ft from the inside wall of a permanently installed pool. This receptacle must be located not more than 6½ ft above the floor, platform, or grade level serving the permanently installed pool.

This sounds awesome! I have a bunch of existing outdoor outlets, on and below deck. I am going to measure later today to see how they fall with our plans.

Is there any issue with pump distance and plumbing with rigid pvc?

No issues with pump distance and plumbing with rigid pvc. You can move water efficiently.

I just wanted to update the thread, just in case anyone is following. Once we begin building i will try to take time lapsed photos and make a thread.

We decided on a 15x26 matrix resin oval pool from sharkline. Delivery set for early july. Pool permit applied for - waiting for remarks or issue.
tentative location staked, with existing power in mind (purely cost saving and expediting measure). We plan to place the pump and sand filter adjacent to the generator and just plumb to the pool - no idea what we will do surrounding the pool yet, so burying some pvc and keeping the area clear seems a safe bet.

Ordered all electrical bonding materials online, wire/skimmer plate/lugs etc.

I added the in use cover to the outlet near the generator, hopefully the inspector doesnt mind a homeowner making revisions to 15 yr old metal covers.
