So I bought a new motor. Before I begin, my breaker isn’t labeled and the previous wires melted off so I’m unable to see what it was previously set at. I went through yesterday trying to label breakers and there are currently 1 single post and 4 double post left. I don’t know if it was previously wired for 115v or 230v. The wires in between the conduit and motor were red black and white. Would it be okay if I used red black and green, tried it at 230 and then switch to 115 if it didn’t run properly? I’m unsure if green and white wire are interchangeable are not. Novice electrical skills. Everything is off at the breaker to ensure I don’t fry myself.

Hopefully this helps. The input wires for the toggle switch are red and black , they have a reading of 246V. Does this mean I’m supposed to run 230v and the last person who wired it did it incorrectly?
