Pump just Hums after power outage

I just took the back of my old pump in to the pool store I deal with for parts and he gave me a whole new motor and I just slid it back in and put the four bolts on. That gap is always been there even with the old motor. Is it possible he would have put a new motor in and took the capacitors from my old motor? I thought the capacitors came with the motor. This is what my old motor looked like. When I took the motor off to take it there All I did was disconnect the electricity and took the four bolts off and whatever came out I took in all in one piece. This looks like the totally different motor as you can see in the picture. I can't tell if it's leaking now because it's been pouring here for 3 days I'm in New Jersey and we're getting there backlash from tropical storm Debbie. You have to click on the photos and pinch with your fingers too enlarge and see your gap on the old one 20240719_222057.jpg20240719_222100.jpg20240723_185956.jpg20240723_185933.jpg20240719_222057.jpg

Can you get a better picture of where the pump is leaking? There is a seal around the gap I pointed out that if it is not replaced or gets twisted can leak. There is also a diffuser seal inside that area can leak and could have gotten twisted or not seated correctly. When they provided the new motor did it already have the mechanical seal, impeller, and diffuser installed, or was it just a motor with the shaft exposed that you had to install all the seals and parts on to?

I can't tell where the league is coming from right now because everywhere is wet from the hurricane. I'll get some pictures maybe tomorrow and put them up when I took the back off the old pump, The impeller and the cover came off with it so all that there was wet part I meant it everything else came with me to the pool store. And when I installed it the rubber piece was already still around I didn't take a rubber piece with me so that probably is the issue. Is it normal for a store to give me a different type motor all together. I really like the compact small gold one I didn't even realized until I took it out of the box they gave me that it was totally different motor. There's a ton of money out there right now so as soon as he area dries up and I can see exactly where it's coming from I'll take a better pic if I can. I'm getting my hip replaced on 26th and so real pain in the Rear to get down there. They put the pumping motor in a real tight spot close to the fence which is stupid The pump needs air circulation, I'm constantly back there cleaning up after a storm or the winner leaves and stuff and I can barely squeeze between the pump in the fence. Thank you for all your help I'll try to get those pictures over the weekend thank you. It's nice and sunny out today so maybe I'll be able to go into the pool. I've got to drain some of it because it's over the skimmer right now. Thank you once again for your help

It’s pretty common to get an aftermarket motor to put on the wet end of a pump. They provided what was in stock that would fit. If the store installed the mechanical seal, the impeller, and the diffuser, I’d suspect the either diffuser seal being rolled (not super likely but possible) or the seal between the motor housing and wet end - especially if you didn’t replace it.

No I didn't replace The seal between the wet and the motor I didn't realize it was there until I was putting the motor back on. The leak really isn't that bad I'll wait till next year or do it when I take the pump off for the winter which I don't like doing I usually cover it with a mere reason of taking it can cause more problems than it's worth thank you for all your help I probably should have greased the seal as well... DUH

No it wasn't just a shaft it was the impeller and that part covering the empower All that was left was that wet end from the gap on, everything slid out so I just took it in I do have a question if they change the motor would they have given me new capacitors? Especially since it's even a different looking type motor. Cuz I'm a little worried about that I'm about ready to call them and ask

The new motor would have had new capacitors on it, so you’re good there. The two areas to look for a leak will be on the diffuser housing (the snout that slid into your wet end). It has a seal on the front of it. I would be highly suspect of the housing gasket where the wet end meets the motor. It sounds like you didn’t replace it. That’s part number SPX1600T. You have to remove the motor to replace it so you can inspect the diffuser gasket when you have it apart.
